National apprenticeship drive begins
A nationwide drive to encourage businesses to take on more apprentices and boost the country's skillset has been launched.
National Apprenticeship Week will last all week and comes as business secretary Vince Cable said the coalition is prioritising investment in apprenticeships, leading to record numbers of places combined with tough new standards to drive up quality.
It is hoped that this can help to increase the overall skill levels of the country's workers and assist businesses grow in the months and years ahead.
Mr Cable commented: "Apprenticeships are at the centre of the government's skills policy because we know that they work. Not only do they provide individuals with the skills they need for prosperous and rewarding careers, they also boost businesses' profits and drive growth in the wider economy."
It comes after Tara Daynes, human resources and training consultant at taradayneshr.com, recently said that people hoping to work in sales jobs and other positions will find apprenticeships can provide "focused, structured learning".
