Jobseekers 'need to be flexible'

It is essential that jobseekers are flexible in their approach to sales recruitment if they are to enhance their prospects of securing a position, it has been claimed.

According to John Salt, director of Totaljobs.com, public sector jobseekers often have a "high level" of transferable skills, but in today's market, this is often not enough.

His comments follow the publication of a report by the organisation which revealed that, of 1,600 public sector jobseekers polled, two-thirds are now willing to take a pay cut to secure a job, compared with only one-fifth supporting the idea in April.

"Jobseekers need to be flexible to secure that next position and it seems that they finally understand this. Those willing to move with the times will find they will reap the benefits in the long term," Mr Salt explained.

Meanwhile, Manpower Inc recently conducted a Talent Shortage Survey of 35,000 employers across 36 countries and found that, as the global recovery gathers pace, cultivating future talent and alleviating the shortage of skilled workers is being viewed as vital to ensure economic growth.
