Corporation tax could help support British business

This week's Budget could help businesses using sales recruitment in the UK, according to an expert, who said the tax measures will assist them over the next five years.

Reacting to the Chancellor's Budget speech, Richard Lambert, CBI director-general, said that the measures set out by George Osborne will help to encourage businesses to stay within the UK and others to come here to set up a business base.

Mr Lambert stated that the five-year road map for corporation tax provides much-needed consistency and certainty for British businesses.

He also believes that combined with consultation on foreign profits and intellectual property, the measures could help prevent or reverse the flow of companies overseas.

"There was clear recognition in the Budget of the role that business needs to play in getting the economy back into shape, and generating the jobs and wealth needed to sustain economic recovery," he added.

The Queen's Speech should have buoyed the entire recruitment community, according to Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, who said scrapping the planned rises in national insurance contributions is a move that will "delight" the sector.
