Scrappage of tax on jobs 'delights' recruiters
Yesterday's Queen's Speech should buoy the entire recruitment community, according to an expert, who said scrapping the planned rises in national insurance contributions is a move by the new coalition government that will "delight" the sector.
Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), said the revelation that the national insurance tax is to be scrapped is great news for people using sales recruitment because it could have made creating jobs expensive.
"Recruiters will be delighted that the effect of the rise in national insurance contributions will be mitigated. This tax on jobs was opposed by the REC and all business bodies as it would have added cost onto new jobs," he said.
Mr Green added that the REC was also happy about the reforms to the benefits system because now the "rigid" rules on short-term assignments will be relaxed.
Noel Quinn, head of commercial banking for HSBC, recently said that British business downplays its strengths at times and he believes the economic signs are positive and show the UK is well on the road to recovery.
