Teambuilding should be a standard practice
Companies can never do enough teambuilding, according to an expert, who said that it should be standard in every workplace.
Firms looking to increase their sales recruitment could be interested in the comments from Mike Emmott, employee relations adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, who said teambuilding is worth the cost.
"Whatever it [teambuilding] is, if it is done in a group [and] in an informal way, it can help build bonds and [develop] slightly better relationships between people," he stated.
The expert added that any activity which makes people feel more comfortable with each other and encourages discussion must be a good thing.
He also claimed that activities like badminton and horse riding can help to build "social capital" and develop mutual trust and confidence between workers.
The British Psychological Society recently said that some teambuilding activities in sports are carried out for the sake of tradition and do not actually help players to bond.
