Luxury brands back online sales ruling
Two of the world's largest luxury retailers have given their backing to a ruling which allows brand owners to keep control of how online outlets distribute their products.
Retail Week reported that LVMH, which owns brands such as Louis Vuitton and PPR, which owns the Gucci Group, supported the European Commission regulatory framework which allows them to impose restrictions on who can sell their goods online.
Those looking for sales jobs could be interested in the ruling, which will come into effect from June this year and remain valid until 2022.
Guy Salter, deputy chief executive of luxury brands trade body Walpole, told the publication: "The new regulatory framework ensures that there is not a disconnection between the rules that govern online and offline commerce."
He added that a key part of the luxury goods trade is being able to preserve the image of brands and ensure their products are sold in a high-quality environment.
Another piece of proposed legislation which was recently passed was the equality bill, and after it gets the royal assent it could affect the rights of people looking for sales jobs.
