Increased sales could change Jaguar Land Rover's plans
A turnaround in the fortunes of one of the UK's most well-known car brands could put a halt to planned plant closures.
Jaguar Land Rover could turn its back on proposals to close one of its UK plants after sales of its cars rocketed in March, according to insiders quoted in the Times.
Last month Land Rover racked up sales 67 per cent higher than the corresponding period last year and sales jobs could be given a boost as a result.
The newspaper reported that sources close to the car manufacturer said that the mix of improved sales figures and a new management team has forced chiefs to think twice about plans to close both Castle Bromwich and Solihull, Land Rover's two Midlands bases.
The automotive industry will welcome the news after a torrid few years which has seen sales slide and pressure grown on British manufacturing.
