Google 'will ramp up sales recruitment'
One of the world's largest media companies has announced that it intends to increase the number of sales personnel on its books.
Google saw a 37 per cent jump in profit in the first quarter of 2010 and the search engine giant's chief financial officer Patrick Pichette said sales jobs would be created at the company.
"We expect to continue hiring aggressively through the year. We have a strong pipeline of candidates primarily focused on engineering and sales, and we are on-boarding them to fuel our growth agenda as fast as possible," he said in the transcription of an earnings call.
Intel also recorded a 44 per cent leap in sales during the first quarter of this year, and it intends to increase its workers from 1,000 to 2,000 in 2010.
Another area where sales jobs have been buoyed recently is the north-west, according to Crain's Manchester Business, which reported that the Business Activity Index from analyst firm Markit showed a surge in the region's need for sales staff.
