UK job market shows further signs of improvement
The number of people securing permanent work placements, including those in sales jobs, grew at the fastest pace last month since July 2007, new figures have revealed.
A Report on Jobs study, produced by Markit Economics and sponsored by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG LLP, showed that as well as the number of temporary places also rising, vacancies increased at their sharpest rate for over two and a half years.
Bernard Brown, partner and head of business services at KPMG, said: "The latest figures seem to confirm that the UK jobs market is on the road to recovery: Permanent job placements are growing at their fastest pace since July 2007, with both vacancies and salaries increasing."
However, Mr Brown did warn that there could be the impact of the public sector recession on the jobs market, which will be played out over the next six to 12 months.
Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, told those looking for sales recruitment opportunities that the public sector needs to embrace radical reform rather than cut jobs.
