More than 20,000 firms making the skills pledge

It has been revealed that more than 20,000 firms in the UK are helping people achieve sales recruitment success by making the skills pledge.

The Pleasure Beach Resort in Blackpool was the latest firm to sign up to the scheme, which has now helped more than seven million people to benefit from new training opportunities since it started two years ago.

By supporting firms to identify and address skills needs and training, the Skills Pledge, which is managed by the Learning and Skills Council, aims to boost workforce confidence, productivity and business sense.

Kevin Brennan, minister for further education and skills at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, said: "Investing in skills is vital for businesses to ensure they are well placed to succeed when the economy improves. The Government continues to make it easier for businesses to help their employees improve their skills as well as boosting confidence and productivity."

The Skills Pledge is a promise that, through training, businesses will work to boost their workforce, preparing them for future sales recruitment opportunities.
