Long-term employability 'key to sales recruitment'
People in sales jobs should take a strategic view of their long-term employability, ensuring that they have the skills which will guarantee them future sales recruitment success.
Ian Pearson, a futurologist at the consultancy Futurizon, told the Financial Times that people in sales jobs need to get used to the idea that what they know has a shorter and shorter lifespan.
"You need to be learning continuously. Spend 15 per cent of your time learning about fields adjacent to yours. Its a bit like the ecology of a rainforest you don't want to be the animal who is so fantastically well adapted to one tree that they will die if that tree is cut down," he added.
Miranda Kennett, founder of First Class Coach, told the source that people should always have a 'plan B' in sales recruitment, so that if anything goes wrong they are able to find employment in another job.
People looking for the next sales recruitment opportunity should also make sure that they keep their CV continuously up-to-date, instead of waiting until they need a job.
