Flexible sales jobs 'can benefit employee health'
People who have taken on positions in flexible sales jobs will feel numerous benefits, according to new research.
A study from Durham University showed that job satisfaction, employee health and family life can all improve through flexible working.
The research, which canvassed the opinions of 16,000 people, found that new working arrangements in sales jobs such as flexitime and teleworking are becoming more popular.
A spokesman from the Trades Union Congress said that new work patterns will take the pressure off over-stretched permanent employees.
"Over-working leaves people with less time to spend with friends and loved ones. It also leads to stress, which can ruin the little time that over-worked staff do get to spend with their family," he added.
The spokesman also said that both employees and businesses can gain from implementing flexibility, stating that staff retention and productivity will be improved, while reducing stress and absence levels at the same time.
