Work experience 'a solution to youth unemployment'
Young people hunting for sales recruitment success should think about undertaking work experience in a bid to improve their skills, according to an industry expert.
Becci Newton, spokesperson for the Institute for Employment Studies, said that young people can also try out a different career or occupation by spending time on a work experience placement.
"Offering pre-employment training packages is a way for this to happen. It is also a way for young people to develop work skills and attitudes, for example soft skills such as teamwork and communication, and to establish themselves in the rhythms of work," she said.
She added that these placements can help job hunters achieve sales recruitment success as they add relevant and recent experience to their CV while also providing a manager to approach for a reference.
Ms Newton's comments come after The Prince's Trust highlighted the danger that the recession may cause a 'lost generation' of workers.
