Sales jobs set to be created by Longbridge firm

Dozens of new sales jobs are set to be created by a construction supplies business, only two years since it was bought out of administration.

The Lancashire Telegraph reported that Norman Tenray, managing director at OBAS, took over four collapsed companies and merged them into one slimmed-down organisation.

Since then, a cultural change and a renewed emphasis on sales have seen its turnover rise from £2 million last year to a projected £3 million in 2010.

Mr Tenray is currently hiring 16 new employees, while he also hopes to create more sales jobs later this year as the business continues to grow.

"The staff had to believe in the vision we had and feel confident in what we were doing. It has now got to the point where, during the cold snap, staff were ringing from home asking if someone could pick them up because they were desperate to get into work," he added.

Last week, Mr Tenray's optimism for sales recruitment was shared by a survey from Towers Watson, which showed that 82 per cent of firms are hoping to take people on this year.
