Flexible staffing 'important' for delivering front line services
Managers of sales jobs need to recognise the importance of flexible staffing as a way of delivering crucial front line services, according to an expert.
Kevin Green, the chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, said that the recent pre-Budget report would have implications on recruitment and employment, with flexible staffing being a crucial tool in the future.
Mr Green also praised chancellor Alastair Darling for introducing measures which support people looking for sales recruitment success, such as extending training for 16 and 17 year olds.
The government also pledged £8 million to an internship scheme that will provide undergraduates with bursary style support to help them improve their skills, giving them more chance of being hired in a sales job.
However, Mr Green added that the government needs to do more to stimulate demand for staff, while also disagreeing with moves to increase the national insurance contribution rate by 2011.
