Sales jobs will benefit from skills learnt by career breakers
Managers of sales jobs are starting to realise that they can benefit from the skills learnt by people who have taken a career break, according to an industry body.
Rachel Morgan-Trimmer, founder of the Career Break Site, said that a lot of people are determined to see the world and it is much cheaper to let them take a career break than hire someone new.
She added that people who take a break now have something different to offer sales jobs on their CV as they have worked on projects abroad or learnt a new skill.
"It is not just the formal skills and qualifications factor but also soft skills like problem solving, overcoming challenges, gaining confidence and communication skills that are a big part of it as well," she added.
According to research by secretarial recruiters Office Angels, 13 per cent of workers would love the opportunity to work abroad, while nine per cent say they would like to try new experiences such as getting involved with community, ethical projects or overseas voluntary work.
