Recession 'has to led to better working practices' in sales jobs
The recession may be a catalyst for a new era of business, according to the latest Confederation of British Industry report.
Titled The Shape of Business, the report references four major areas in which UK businesses may develop fresh approaches as a result of the challenges faced by the current economic downturn.
Phil Flaxton, chief executive of not-for-profit employment body Work Wise UK, said that during the recession, more and more businesses have been looking to see how they can save money.
"As we come out of recession, I don't think that businesses will necessarily say 'well that was it, now we can go back to presenteeism', I think a lot of them will say 'this is what we have learnt during the recession, flexible workforces do work'," he added.
The report argued that companies will reorganise and re-examine their approach to working with partners, while sustainability and ethics will become more integrated into the business model.
