Pay freezes 'helping people keep their sales jobs'
An increasing number of workers are taking action to help their employers through the recession, according to new research.
The insolvency trade body R3 found that half of the UK workforce is accepting pay freezes, working longer hours or making other changes to their work patterns in order to preserve their sales jobs.
Leon Teasdale, spokesperson for the Employment Law Advisory Service, said that people are aware that they have to do more outside of the box to keep their employment.
"It all comes to the policies that an employer has in place; a good employer will have the right policies and therefore will get more out of its staff," he added.
Recent research from management consultant firm The Hay Group found that nearly 40 per cent of workers feel that their employers have broken an unspoken contract of loyalty in the past twelve months.
It added that employers will have to make sure that they work to retain their staff after the recession has ended.
