People in sales jobs are 'working harder than ever'
UK sales professionals are working longer hours than ever before, according to an industry expert.
Sales recruitment specialist Aaron Wallis has published results of its Sales Survey 2009, showing that only a third of people in sales jobs feel secure in their current employment.
Of the 644 respondents, 79 per cent said that they worked more than 40 hours per week, with eight per cent working more than 60 hours in a week.
Nearly 90 per cent of people in sales jobs were found to have taken work home at the weekends, while 36 per cent said that they work every weekend.
Rob Scott, managing director at Aaron Wallis, said: "Sales people, in my experience, have always worked hard and most I know work in excess of 50 hours per week. It is the nature of the business; we have got to be there when the clients need us."
Key findings in the 2007 version of the sales recruitment specialists' survey showed that 22 per cent of people never worked weekends.
