Sales targets increase despite recession
Over half of people in sales jobs received a year-on-year target increase in 2009, despite the economic downturn.
Sales recruitment specialists Aaron Wallis said that 61 per cent of people who replied to their Sales Survey 2009 said that their company did take the economy into account when setting these targets, despite 35 per cent receiving a big increase in their targets this year.
Just 17 per cent of people in sales jobs received lower targets for 2009.
Research also showed that 31 per cent of staff were over target on their sales performance while just under a third were non-targeted.
Managing director of Aaron Wallis Rob Scott said that the retail industry saw the largest increase in targets, while the banking, financial services and insurance sectors combined saw the biggest decrease.
Recently car manufacturer Toyota said that it had raised its sales targets by three per cent for the year to March 2010, due to a recovery in the new car sales market recently.
