Small sales businesses could be given aid by RBS
The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Natwest has announced new plans to aid small sales enterprises by giving them loans and any extra advice they need.
The Business Hotline will give enterprises with sales jobs a telephone and email service which will be staffed by experienced relationship bankers who will aim to exhaust every avenue in the search for a responsible lending solution.
The hotline will also put firms in touch with a named case manager that will remain their single point of contact while their case is assessed.
Commenting on the scheme and the problems that enterprises offering sales jobs face, John Wright, national chairman for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), said that this move by RBS had to be welcomed.
"The FSB has long been calling for an intermediary to support viable businesses that have been denied loans and overdrafts," he added.
However, Mr Wright also said that, despite the announcement by RBS, this service cannot compare to high-quality impartial government advice.
