Sales jobs 'remain in demand'

Companies are finding that sales jobs are among the hardest positions to fill, it has been revealed.

According to research group Manpower's 2009 Hardest Jobs To Fill Survey, sales representative positions are the fifth most difficult to find staff for.

Engineers, nurses, manual trades and teachers came ahead of sales jobs in the list.

The organisation went on to say that workforces need to be open to retraining and upskilling for jobs that are in demand, while governments, business leaders and educational facilities should take action together to ensure students are being enticed to enter such fields.

Earlier this month, Ed Lee, author of Staying Safe Abroad: Traveling, Working and Living in a Post-9/11 World, told Sales and Marketing that people in sales jobs looking to do business overseas can make use of telephonic interpreting services as a way of making contact with prospective foreign clients.

He added that the services can prove an effective cost-cutting measure.
