TUC 'highlights value of unions to the business world'

A leading organisation has emphasised the importance of modern unions to the commercial world, those looking for sales jobs may be interested to discover.

Brendan Barber, general secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), says that his group's recent joint statement with the Department for Business and the Confederation of British Industry emphasises their value.

He says companies in the UK need as much support as they can get during the economic downturn, those looking at sales vacancies may be interested to discover.

"Union reps can be a vital resource not only for unions and their members, but also for the companies and organisations that employ them," he asserts.

Mr Barber calls for the law to afford equality and green reps time off to carry out union work.

The TUC recently highlighted the importance of promoting the role of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the workplace to mark the International Day Against Homophobia.
