Video interviews 'becoming more common'

By Nikki Barrister

Video interviews conducted live over the internet are growing in popularity, it has been claimed.

According to job board InovaHire.com, the hiring method is being embraced by corporations, in contrast to video resumes, which are still considered controversial.

The company gave interview advice that use of the live webcam allows employers and jobseekers to control the process, while companies save time and money by not having to bring in a number of candidates for every one they choose to appoint.

Co-founder of the group Tanya Willette commented: "The live interview takes place over your browser so you don't have to worry about downloading software and you don't have to worry about firewall issues."

Last week, Steve Miller, author of Change Your Life - Grab that Job, told the Daily Mirror that candidates for sales jobs should avoid cliches and show they are really passionate about the role they are seeking during the interview process.
