Business to be given support for eventual upturn

Written by Paul Goatman.

Businesses are to be given more help on coping with the economic downturn and preparing for the eventual upturn.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) is launching a new service which will provide sales managers and their companies with free advice and support.

Companies will be able to access simplified information after skills brokerage service Train to Gain and Business Link joined forces.

Lord Young, the skills and apprenticeships minister, says the new service means access to help will be 'quick and easy'.

"We are committed to providing real help for businesses to help them weather the downturn, and prepare for the upturn," he adds.

Businesses will also be able to talk to a local broker who can make them aware of services available in their region and access to funding.

It follows the simplification of services by BERR last week, which was welcomed by the Confederation of British Industry as being of particular help to small and medium sized businesses.
