Personal issues 'restrict workers' performance'
Workers are kept from carrying out their employment responsibilities by a range of personal and lifestyle-related issues, it may interest sales managers to learn.
Research carried out by health and productivity solutions provider LifeCare indicates 38 per cent of employees said personal matters present them with their greatest challenges, followed by inappropriate pay (20 per cent) and not having the proper tools or resources (19 per cent).
When asked to predict their biggest obstacles over the next 12 months, 55 per cent of workers cited financial issues, while 23 per cent said balancing work demands and time with family would be their hardest task.
Chief executive of the group Peter Burki commented that employers should begin to address the specific challenges staff anticipate for 2009.
"Their work/life providers should be delivering a wide range of tools and resources to address financial issues, health and wellness issues, caregiving challenges and work/life balance," he added.
Earlier this week, studies by Accenture indicated almost half of employees around the world, including those in sales jobs, crave more challenges in the workplace.
