Wood-look gadgets 'bark in fashion'

Those with commission to spend from their sales jobs may be interested to discover that gadgets with wooden designs are a growing trend among professionals, a reviewer asserts.

Sophie Morris, writing for the Independent, claims everything from earphones to console controllers are being released in this style.

With consumers increasingly concerned about their playthings' green credentials, she says it is no surprise these are becoming fashionable.

Jonathan Bell, architecture editor and writer for Wallpaper, claims products where there is a lot of hands-on contact are ideal for this approach.

He states: "Where wood makes a lot of sense is in places like mice and handles and controllers, where you have to touch the surface a great deal."

Mr Bell also tells the news provider that casings and structural elements made from trees have got a lot of advantages, where electronics can be swapped out and upgraded as new gizmos are released.

Last month, TechChee.com took a look at Marubeni Infotec's wooden keyboard and describes termites as its one concern with the gadget.
