Businesses 'looking to develop their talent'

New figures show businesses are increasingly looking to develop their talented employees, which could interest those looking at sales jobs.

Statistics revealed by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development reveal more than one in four enterprises have updated their strategy, with a fifth placing more emphasis on finding and developing talent.

Claire McCartney, the group's organisation and resourcing advisor, claims companies need to look at the long term and work to ensure they have the best people in their sales jobs.

She states: "Managing, developing and motivating talented employees is even more important because it is the one thing that can differentiate organisations."

Warning companies not to cut back on developing their employees, she says it is important not to postpone these initiatives.

Righttrack Consultancy recently highlighted the importance of motivating staff and companies not assuming their workers will be efficient without this encouragement.

Kasmin Cooney, the firm's managing director, claimed it is vital that businesses take their employee's aspirations into account.
