Business casual 'disappearing during the credit crunch'

For both men and women, wearing a jacket exudes a sense of responsibility, as well as the impression they are in control and good at what they do.

A study by the Aziz Corporation found more than half of office employees will dress more smartly if they feel insecure in their sales job.

Debbie Gray, an image consultant at the group, says the padded structure and shoulder-line of a suit jacket can give the wearer more authority.

"Many of my clients lost their identity when they lost their tie! With it, you get individuality and flair," she states.

She claims the gradual disappearance of business casual is a good thing as these fashions were often "bland".

Ms Gray states that it is a great relief for many office workers when they do not have to worry about what clothes they need to wear the next day.

According to the Financial Times, business looks have infiltrated every aspect of the fashion world this year.
