Sales philosophy 'should be company core'
Companies should put sales at the centre of their business plans in order to survive in the difficult economic climate, it has been claimed.
Writing in the Institute of Sales and Marketing Magazine, Annalize Cuthill, sales director at behaviour change consultancy Huthwaite International, said significant changes have taken place in the role of the sales professional over the past decade.
"Forward-thinking companies
recognise the real value of selling and the impact that the rest of the business can have on delivering a strong bottom line," she added.
Ms Cuthill went on to say that sales is a philosophy that should be ingrained in a firm's ethos, not merely a functional department.
Earlier this week, David Kern, chief economist at the British Chamber of Commerce, stated that companies with high-quality managerial staff are more likely to survive the recession as they tend to have greater resources and more assets, meaning they are therefore able to deal with a fall in business.
