Training 'key to achieving management roles'
Executives looking to change jobs in the current uncertain economic climate should rebuild their CV and learn new skills in order to earn a competitive advantage, it has been claimed.
Management careers website TheLadders.co.uk is offering advice for those looking switch careers, such as being ambitious but realistic, confiding in trusted colleagues, calling recruiters directly and making use of job websites.
Derek Pilcher, managing director of TheLadders.co.uk, said: "If a job seeker finds his or her industry has been hit hard, then reinventing your career by focusing on ones skills and passion is an important step to find a new career path."
He added that certain sectors are still experiencing growth and companies are looking for talented individuals despite the financial crisis.
Last month, a survey published in Psychology of Women Quarterly indicated women seeking managerial roles who present themselves as confident and ambitious in job interviews run the risk of being perceived as lacking in social skills.
