Companies 'should be upfront with staff'
UK enterprises can do little more than be honest and support their staff if redundancies are necessary but should aim to behave in this fashion, is has been claimed.
Corinne Mills, human resources advisor at online recruitment portal Monster, said it is impossible for firms to promise someone a job, but employees should be able to guarantee that their company will be straight with them.
She added that this will encourage employees to perform well while they are still in the job.
"It's particularly challenging this year. Companies need to be upfront and honest with people as much as they can
I think companies can't do more than that," commented Ms Mills.
Research released earlier this month by Monster found just three percent of British employees would rather have a Christmas party than cash this year and of those who do attend office parties, 66 per cent do not look forward to them and would rather spend time with friends and family.
