Employees believe management 'not experienced enough'
Research conducted by the Aziz Corporation finds employees believe those in management positions such as sales directors are not experienced enough to be able to lead effectively.
Over 80 per cent of workers believe their bosses will not be able to cope with difficulties presented by the current economic problems, People Management reports.
Its figures find 74 per cent of those asked believe companies are not willing to tell the people who work for them the nature of the problems they are facing.
Chairman of the research company Khalid Aziz claims employees are increasingly valuing older, more experienced leaders, the news provider reveals.
Using the example of Halifax Bank of Scotland, he says it is not surprising it has faced difficulties as its chief executive has not worked in the sector during a recession.
He claims: "In having to deal with and communicate bad news, a downturn exposes leaders who are muddling through without a plan."
Internal transparency by management staff such as sales directors lead employees to feel confident firms are dealing with the situation, Mr Aziz tells the source.
Last month, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development told companies it was important they continued offering training in management skills as leadership was becoming an increasingly important skill.
