Sales recruitment is 'embracing' disabled employees

Many large employers including those focussing on sales recruitment are "embracing" employees with disabilities or health conditions, an expert says.

A spokeswoman for Remploy states firms which have agreed to a Local Employment Partnership (LEP) and hire sales recruitment candidates with these conditions are working towards their target.

Businesses such as sales recruitment commit to the scheme with local Jobcentre Plus branches to help those disadvantaged in the job market into work.

She claims the government is increasingly involving organisations such as Remploy in initiatives like the LEP.

"There is already a very clear move to involve [groups] in the delivery of large-scale employment programmes," she states.

Predicting further developments within the Welfare to Work agenda, the representative predicts a clear direction for the scheme will emerge at the conclusion of the green paper in October.

According to the UK Disability Discrimination Act 1995, a disabled person experiences a physical or cognitive impairment which has a long-term effect on their ability to carry out routine tasks.
