Sales recruitment 'must not overlook' Web 2.0

Sales recruitment must not ignore social networking and Web 2.0, a leading industry figure tells a source.

Manager of RSA Interims Tarquin Bennett-Coles claims the rise of these technologies is changing the way sales recruitment works, Pharmafocus.com reports.

She suggests social networking can be factored into the induction process to help bring a new employee into the company before they actually begin in the office.

Asserting the importance of keeping contact between company and new team members, she says it might be useful to offer the workforce an invitation-only network to allow social contact between employees.

Looking to the future, Ms Bennett-Coles states the internet may be the best way to gain access to graduate, managerial and professional candidates.

Describing the technology as "critical", she tells the website it is also important companies learn to manage their online brand effectively.

"The risk is that their search finds information from a disgruntled ex-employee or other person or groups who wish to harm the company," she warns.

Earlier this month, the Monster Employment Index recorded a drop in online sales recruitment.
