Employers seek psychometric testing
The use of psychometric testing for recruitment and internal team building is becoming more widespread, according to the British Psychological Society.
Employers are tending away from traditional recruitment methods using a CV or application form and combining them with psychometric testing.
According to Keele University, employers recruiting for roles such as sales jobs have three main options; general intelligence tests, specific ability tests including attainment and aptitude tests, and work related personality questionnaires.
Manager of the British Psychological Society's Testing Centre, Rachel Middleton, remarks that psychometric testing provides better guarantees than just a CV or application form.
She said: "A lot of employers have gone off the traditional application forms and CVs, as I think they're not necessarily good indicators of a person - especially CVs, as a lot of people trump them up and inflate it.
"There's no guarantee that if you just select through normal procedures of the interview process you're necessarily going to have the right candidate for the job."
Ms Middleton added that testing could also be used by employers to encourage a sales jobs team in an area of weakness.
With consultants that are British Psychological Society (BPS) level A and level B accredited Aaron Wallis are able to offer a wide range of psychometric tools, personality tests, aptitude tests and ability tests.
